Troy Man Riding Bike With Weapons On I-696 Threatens Trooper: Police
Troopers said the man was riding a bike on the freeway with two large knives and a large black rod, which he used to threaten an officer.

ROYAL OAK, MI — A Troy man is in trouble after he refused to comply with troopers' orders Sunday night while riding a bike with a large black rod and two butcher knives on Interstate 696 in Royal Oak, according to Michigan State Police.
Troopers found the 66-year-old man on a bike around 8 p.m. on the Campbell Road ramp to eastbound Interstate 696, according to Michigan State Police.
The man refused to drop what appeared to be a black metal rod and "at one point raised the metal rod above his head in a threatening manner" while approaching a trooper, according to Michigan State Police.

A second trooper tried to de-escalate the situation and was eventually able to take the black rod out of the suspect's hand, according to Michigan State Police.
Troopers also found two large butcher knives, including one in the man's waistband and one in his coat pocket, along with pepper spray, according to Michigan State Police.

The man was placed in the Oakland County Jail as possible charges were pending, according to Michigan State Police.
