"Walk-In Wednesday" makes it easy to get annual mammogram
The "Walk-In Wednesday" event is first come, first served and space is limited. Paper or electronic prescriptions are required.
Beaumont will host its first-ever "Walk-In Wednesday" screening mammogram event at nine locations throughout metro Detroit on Oct. 16 from 4 - 8 p.m
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women, according to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Studies also show women under 50 tend to develop more aggressive forms of breast cancer.
"We recommend annual screenings starting at age 40," Beaumont radiologist Dr. Murray Rebner said. "We know getting regular annual mammograms can save lives."
The "Walk-In Wednesday" event is first come, first served and space is limited. You must have a paper or electronic prescription for a screening mammogram to participate.
If you can't make it on Oct. 16, you can still schedule your mammogram online or call 248-965-0359. Beaumont has 17 mammography locations throughout metro Detroit and some locations offer appointments on evenings and weekends.
Screening mammograms are covered by most insurance companies. If you do not have insurance, a cash pay option is available.
