Wildlife Photographer of the Year Exhibition Returns to Detroit Zoo

The Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition – a collection of images from the world’s largest and most prestigious wildlife photography competition – returns to the Detroit Zoo’s Ford Education Center May 4, 2013, for the eighth consecutive year. The exhibition of winning photos from the 2012 competition runs through Sept. 8, 2013, and is free with Zoo admission. 

The exhibition features 100 photographs dramatically displayed as illuminated large-format color transparencies. The winning images were chosen from more than 48,000 entries by aspiring amateurs and established professional photographers from all corners of the earth. 

“This spectacular exhibition outdoes itself year after year, showcasing the most incredible photographic images of wildlife from around the globe. It is not to be missed,” said Ron Kagan, Executive Director and CEO of the Detroit Zoological Society. 

A hardback commemorative portfolio book of the winning photographs is available for sale at Zoofari Market. 

Now in its 48th year, the Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition is co-owned by the Natural History Museum, London and BBC Worldwide.
