Witness Watches Suspects Steal Catalytic Converters: Blotter

Royal Oak police made 37 arrests for the week of Oct. 1-8.

Royal Oak police are investigating a rash of thefts of catalytic converters from parked vehicles.

Two suspects were seen in the act by a witness, who told police two people stole a catalytic converter from a 1998 Mercury minivan in the 600 block of East Hudson at 6:10 a.m. on Oct. 3.

They had arrived at the location in a silver sedan of unknown make and model. The suspects re described as a black female who wore her hair in a bun and a black male.

Also that day, a catalytic converter was stolen from a 2003 Chevy Cavalier parked in the 700 block of South Blair, and another citizen reported a similar theft from a 1997 Chevy Venture parked in an apartment complex parking lot in the 1200 block of East Lincoln.

595 E. Thirteen Mile (Fitness 19), 10-4-15, 5:30 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.: Complainant reported he parked his vehicle in the business parking lot. When he returned he discovered an unknown suspect had broken out his passenger window and stole his wallet and cell phone from the center console. 15-37501

W. Thirteen Mile and Marais (Starr Jaycee Park), 10-7-15, 6:40 p.m. – 7:07 p.m.: Complainant reported she parked her vehicle in the park parking area. When she returned she discovered an unknown suspect had broken out the driver side window and stole her purse. 15-37829

500 block of E. Thirteen Mile (Oakridge Elementary School), 10-7-15, 6:45 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.: Officers responded to investigate a report of larceny from three (3) vehicles parked in the parking area of the school. All three (3) owners reported an unknown suspect had broken out a side window. Two (2) of the victim’s reported their purses were stolen. Nothing was taken from the third vehicle. A witness observed a suspect run northbound across Thirteen Mile and lost sight of him. The suspect was described as an unknown male approximately 5’7” tall. 15-37827

Malicious Destruction of Property

4700 block of Olivia, 10-3-15, 12:00 a.m. – 8:40 a.m.: Complainant reported she parked her car in front of a residence on Olivia. When she returned she discovered an unknown suspect had thrown a brick through the rear windshield. 15-37292
