16th Annual Daddy Daughter Dance to be held in Saline

The Daddy Daughter Dance is a tradition at the Saline Recreation Center.

This weekend, little girls will dress up in frilly frocks and shiny shoes to attend this year’s Daddy Daughter Valentine Dance in Saline.   The event is in its sixteenth year, and often sells out.

“We started out having only one night for the dance, but had to extend it to two nights to meet demand,” said Lindsey Stewart, facility manager at the Saline Recreation Center.  The dances are meant for girls and their fathers, grandfathers, uncles or family friends to spend time together and make special memories.

“It is important to know girls can bring other male members of their family if their dads aren’t available,” Stewart said.

Guests can expect an evening of music, dancing, prizes and a balloon drop at the end of the night. There will be a dessert bar featuring ice cream sundaes, cookies and chocolate. FotoJenic Studios will be on hand for photos. Each ticket to the dance includes a 4-by-6 photo keepsake, with an option to order more.

Saline resident Jim Reilly has been to many of the dances with his daughters.

“Emma Rose and Gracie love to get all dressed up for the dance in their finest dresses,” Reilly said. “They love to dance to the music with all of their friends from Saline.”

Tickets are still available for both dances, either Friday Feb. 11 or Saturday Feb 12. The cost is $25 per couple, additional children $6 each. Tickets will only be available at the door if the event isn’t sold out. For tickets, call the Recreation Center at 734-429-3502, or visit the website.
