• Girl Scouts and CARES Award Give Saline's Little Free Libraries a Fresh Chapter (thesuntimesnews.com) — Saline's Little Free Libraries are getting a major upgrade thanks to Girl Scout Troop 40180 and a CARES millage grant, with new and repaired book boxes in parks like Brecon, Mill Pond, Risdon, Tefft, and Curtiss. The scouts designed durable, decorated libraries featuring Saline hornets, raised additional funds locally, and will receive the Silver Award for boosting free book access and literacy across town.
   

• 2026 guide to trunk-or-treat events in metro Detroit (metroparent.com) — Families in Saline can look forward to a free trunk-or-treat event on Oct. 21 at 106 W. Michigan Ave., where kids can collect candy from decorated vehicles and swap allergy-friendly treats at a special Teal Table. The broader guide also highlights similar Halloween events across metro Detroit, giving local parents several safe, festive alternatives to traditional door-to-door trick-or-treating.
