1. Dingell Proposes Federal Data Center Bill of Rights (thesuntimesnews.com) — Residents near Saline Township's Oracle and OpenAI data center project could see new federal protections if Rep. Debbie Dingell's proposed data center 'Bill of Rights' advances. Her framework targets who pays for massive new power, water, and infrastructure needs, aims to shield household utility rates, and demands more transparency and community input on these projects.
2. Saline Cross Country Runs Strong at 2nd Jamboree (thesalinepost.com) — Saline High School's boys and girls cross country teams turned in strong performances at the Sept. 29 SEC Red Jamboree, with the boys finishing second and the girls third against seven schools. Local runners like Jake Szalay and Katarina Munson led deep Hornet packs, as the teams now look ahead to meets at Otsego, Lake Erie Metropark, and the SEC championship.
3. Toyota Opens Battery Center Of North America At Michigan R&D Campus (pulse2.com) — Toyota has opened its new 30,000-square-foot Toyota Battery Center of North America in Saline creating a local hub for battery development, testing, and evaluation. The facility will support Toyota plants across the continent, partner with the University of Michigan's Electric Vehicle Center, and help train Michigan engineers and technicians for the growing electric-vehicle industry.
4. WCC Hosts Manufacturing Day for High Schoolers (thesuntimesnews.com) — Saline high schoolers are among about 180 students heading to Washtenaw Community College for Manufacturing Day, where they'll tour robotics, CNC, welding, and engineering labs and meet local employers. The half-day visits highlight in-demand manufacturing careers and apprenticeship options that let students earn wages while training for technical jobs.
