
Charter Township of York Planning Commission Chairperson, Joan Alexander, has recently announced her candidacy for Township Supervisor. Alexander brings twelve years of experience in York Township government to the table, with one year as Assistant to the Township Clerk, five years as Deputy Clerk and six years as a Planning Commission member. Five of the six years on the Planning
Commission have been as Chairperson. Alexander was recently appointed to a third term on the Planning Commission.
“For the past five years I have had the honor of holding a
leadership position within the Charter Township of York. I have been dedicated to my work with the township
and look forward to continuing my service to the Township in a new capacity,” said Alexander in a recent news release.
In addition to her experience in York Township government,
Alexander is a Certified Citizen Planner, a member of Saline Area Sustainability Circle and is a graduate of Saline Leadership Institute. Alexander also has several years of volunteer experience serving the community as
a volunteer for the Girl Scouts of the Huron Valley Council and has eighteen years in Girl Scouting.

Alexander has been encouraged by several York Township
residents to run for the Supervisor position. “I have strong support in the York Township community,” said Alexander. “I look forward to visiting with the residents of York Township and discussing their concerns in the coming months.”
