On April 23, the Washtenaw Community College Board of Trustees approved 2,210 candidates for graduation. They represent WCC graduates for December 2012 and candidates for April, June, and August 2013. “Education is such an important and integral part of our lives today. Washtenaw Community College is honored to provide the kind of quality instruction our students must have to be successful in their chosen careers,” said Dr. Rose B. Bellanca, WCC president.
The impressive list of students represents 1,338 associate’s degree candidates and 872 certificate candidates to date. Of that number, 59.3 percent are women and 40.7 percent are men. Forty-one percent will graduate with honors.

“I wasn’t a good student (in high school), but WCC lit a fire under me. It got me going, it got me focused,” said Cox. “Originally, my major was 3D animation. But when I took my pre-requisite class in Adobe Illustrator something clicked. I just knew that graphic design was what I was meant to be doing. My WCC associate’s degree is a great leg to stand on.”
Cox and the rest of her graduating class will be honored at the WCC commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 18 at 9:15am at the EMU Convocation Center.
