Ann Arbor Spa Offering Free Massages to Vets, Military Personnel and Spouses

Several Massage Envy Spa locations in southeast Michigan will be offering free massages to veterans, military members and their spouses throughout the day Tuesday in honor of Veterans Day.

The free one-hour massages are available from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. at six locations. Call ahead to make sure there’s time available:

In a press release, Massage Envy Spa said the free massages demonstrate “ongoing support for retired and active military service men and women, while providing the healing, therapeutic benefits of massage to those who may need it most.”

Research published in Military Medicine reports that military veterans indicated significant reductions in ratings of anxiety, worry, depression and physical pain after massage. Analysis also suggests declining levels of tension and irritability following a massage.
