Arbor Hospice Foundation raises more than $170,000 with Savour the Journey fundraising gala

The Arbor Hospice Foundation’s third annual fundraising gala Savour the Journey: A celebration of the things we love about life raised more than $170,000 to support Arbor Hospice programs and services, including pediatric hospice care, grief support, complementary therapies and uncompensated care. Chairs Janet Callaway and Margaret Kephart, both of Ann Arbor, led a spectacular team of all-star volunteers to produce the celebration. More than 350 guests attended the recent, sold-out affair at the Sheraton Ann Arbor Hotel. Supporters “savoured” fine wine and indulged in a spectacular strolling supper featuring imaginative dishes and decadent desserts by celebrity chefs from popular Ann Arbor area restaurants, including Chefs Craig Common, Andrew Benjamin, John Fisher, Mary Rasmussen, Najar Farhan, Alexander Ju, Sava LelcajDouglas Hewitt, Laurent Dubourg, Jim Leonardo and Amy Emberling. Music and dancing rounded out the fun-filled evening. Guests also had the opportunity to “pull” a special bottle of wine to take home. The 75 bottles up for grabs were valued up to $250. Supporters were also generously competitive during the evening’s live auction featuring six amazing experiences including private parties, vacations and a shopping spree. “The generosity of our supporters, sponsors and event organizers has a direct and meaningful affect on the lives of Arbor Hospice patients and their families,” said Heidi Grix, Executive Director of The Arbor Hospice Foundation. “Funds raised through this wonderful event allow Arbor Hospice to continue to provide important end-of-life care for patients and their families, regardless of their ability to pay.” One hundred percent of funds raised from Savour the Journey will directly support the work of Arbor Hospice.
