Back To School: Heritage Elementary School
Here's what you should know about Heritage Elementary School as kids return to class.
New Faces: No new hires this year.
New Places: Kelly Widman will loop with her fourth graders from last year into fifth grade, and Betsy Densham will teach fifth grade instead of fourth grade.
New Spaces: A third computer lab has been added, with ten computers re-tasked to accommodate software to help struggling readers. The room is called the Reading Plus lab.

New Programs: Reader's Workshop, the Reader Plus computer lab, and the official rolling out of the Heritage Three B's, the Bye Bye Bullying program. This program was piloted last year, and has been re-tooled after teacher feedback for this year. Students can expect a 3B assembly on the first day of school, as well as a class visit from the principal, counselor and social worker who have developed a brand new anti-bullying curriculum.
Rules for School: There is a clarification of policy in regard to the use of cell phones. Phones must be in lockers at all times. The idea is not to keep kids from calling out, so much as to keep a handle on what people from the outside are getting in touch with the kids. Also, no listening devices will be allowed in school. If a student brings one for before or after school use, it must stay in their locker.

Message from the principal: "It has been a very long two or three months and the school has been empty. It's a lot more fun when the kids are here. They bring such energy to the place, so yeah, I'm really looking forward to the new year." — Les Sharon.
