Health & Fitness

Are you feeling run down this holiday season?

Nasal breathing is the much healthier way to breath.

Check to see if you are breathing more through your mouth or through your nose.  Nasal breathing is the much healthier way to breath for several reasons.  The nasal pathway warms and filters the air for your lungs, this is very important during our cold winter months.  It also delivers nitric oxide to your lungs, blood vessels and cells.  The nitric oxide dilates blood vessels which reduces blood pressure and heart rate.  There is also pressure created upon exhalation by the sinuses due to its smaller diameter which allows the lungs to have a longer time to remove the oxygen from the air.  Mouth breathing reduces the CO2 content in the alveoli of the lungs which constricts the blood vessels due to the CO2 deficiency.  If you are having problems breathing through you nose for more than 5 minutes, you may have obstructions that would require a trip to you family doctor or ENT.  Got a question on this, call me (734) 531-8344.  HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
