Summer Reading Fun at Saline District Library

Summer reading begins at Saline District Library on Sunday, June 17.

Join us for a great library event! Summer reading sign-up for all ages takes place on Sunday, June 17, 1-5. Bring Dad along and celebrate Father’s Day at the library. We’ll have ice cream, special visitor Clifford the Big Red Dog, music, and other activities. Everyone is invited to decorate a star for the Big Dream Project, our summer art installation. Please consider bringing a nonperishable food item for our annual Saline Area Social Services food drive (June 17 – 30).

On Sunday, June 24, help us honor the Greatest Generation by attending a viewing of Honor Flight Michigan – The Legacy Documentary, which will be shown at 2:00 in the Brecon Room. This amazing film not only documents the lives of several Michigan soldiers who served their country in World War II, but also chronicles their Honor Flight journeys to see their memorial in Washington, DC. It was written, directed, filmed, and edited by two Michigan film makers, Gabe Downey and Jon Mellow, in honor of their grandfathers, both decorated WWII heroes. DVDs of the film; the soundtrack CD, composed by James Stonehouse; and The Legacy Documentary book  will all be available for sale at the viewing, with proceeds going to help build Michigan’s Official WWII Legacy Memorial. Registration is requested. Please call the library at 429-5450 or email reference@salinelibrary.org.
