What is that on the lifeguard’s rescue tube?

We're glad you asked! Thanks to a grant from CARES, the Rec Center has purchased a Safety Turtle alarm system for the aquatic center. It’s a small plastic sensor attached to the lifeguard’s rescue tube. When the sensor is submerged (like when a lifeguard jumps into the pool to make a rescue) it will set off an alarm in both the pool office and at the front desk allowing other staff to know of the emergency immediately and to respond without delay. We are very pleased to add another layer of protection to our guests while they are swimming.
