Donations sought for Happier Pants

YPSILANTI, MICHIGAN – Between now and Oct. 16, the Ypsilanti Area Jaycees are seeking donations for a diaper drive, benefiting Hope Clinic in Ypsilanti.  All sizes of disposable diapers are accepted, but the larger sizes of size five and six are of greater need.

Too many parents in our community often have to choose between buying diapers and providing other basic needs for their family. Oftentimes, children are left in the same diaper all day as they do not have a clean diaper to be changed into. This can lead to severe diaper rashes and isolation as the parent or caregiver does not want to leave their home with a child with a sagging diaper.

One of our community resources for families in this situation is the Hope Clinic. Hope Clinic is an interdenominational Christian organization that provides compassionate and practical help to those in need, ministering to the whole person with dignity and respect. Hope Clinic relies on donations in order to provide their programs, which include: a medical clinic and dental clinic for uninsured children and adults; food bank; weekend hot meal program; free laundry program; care and share closet (basic necessities such as personal care items; household cleaning supplies and household goods); financial assistance program (provides limited financial help for prescription co-pays; transportation to medical appointments or help with other emergency financial needs); and baby care (provides emergency diapers and formula as available).
