The Hornet Invitational Water Polo Tournament is an annual round robin tournament where attendees have the opportunity to see teams from around Michigan come to Saline to compete for the Hornet Trophy.
This year eight teams are converging, and it provides a rare opportunity for local Hornet fans to see many games in one nearby location for one admission fee per day in the comfortable confines of the Saline area.
Water polo used to be an a little known sport, but has been growing in popularity and quality, from the west coast and now throughout Michigan, thanks in part to the gold medal victory of the USA Women's team. Saline has had it's share of past accomplishments, and is building back to that level with its young team and accomplished coaching staff.

The junior varsity team shows just as much promise as the varsity for a continued bright future, and will be featured in the Hornet Invite. The JV team no longer plays like a junior team, playing defense and passing with the look of a tight group beyond their short time of experience, mixing brand new players with some leadership that can move them along quickly.
All this, combined with the support of local merchants provides Saline residents with an inexpensive sports experience that puts shame on many upper level sports franchises. It deserves the support of everyone.
