Local Start-Up gives Yelp a Run for its Money

Two years ago, Omeid Seirafi-pour, a student from the University of Michigan Ross School of Business, became frustrated with the long-winded, often negative reviews on Yelp. It was then that an epiphany struck: “What if there was a platform where, instead of rating a place 1-5 and writing a long review, you simply share a list of your favorite places for a category?”

This simple yet revolutionary idea manifested in the creation of myfab5, a website and mobile app. Since then, its team has expanded to ten members (all students of the University collaborating in TechArb), the company has launched in Detroit, and they won first place against ten other tech start-ups at the DTX Showcase in Detroit on Thursday, June 27th.

Do your part to help a local start-up get off the ground while uncovering the best Michigan has to offer!
