Meet the family of Honk! Saline Area Players will present the musical Honk! March 13-15 at the Ellen A Ewing Performing Arts Center, Saline High School, 1300 Campus Parkway, Saline, MI 48176. Based on Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Ugly Duckling,” this musical adaptation tells the story of Ida and Drake who hatch some little ducklings and then a big ugly duckling who says “honk!” instead of “quack.” It is a classic story of the ugly duckling being ridiculed by his family and the town. He runs away only to be preyed upon by cunning characters, like Cat, who want to eat him, plus some other interesting animals. Eventually he finds his way in the world and remembers his mother’s advice about holding his head up high. The show is great for families.
