Milan Girls Soccer Keeps Offense Rolling
Big Reds Keeper kept idle after a second strong game defensively.
The Milan Big Reds girls’ soccer team kept going strong with a 7-0 victory over the Jefferson Bears. Keeper Erin Jinna had little to do as Milan’s offense kept scoring and their defense left Jefferson few chances.
“Our defense has held solid. We’ve put up a blank sheet so far, you can’t really argue with that,” said head coach Simon Evans.
Milan (2-0-0 overall, 1-0-0 in the Huron League) spread the ball around offensively as well. There were six different Big Red scorers throughout the game. Bailey Van Harren was the lone multi-goal scorer with two. Jordan Herman, Katie Bagozzi, Abby Billau, Courtney Meyer and Kelly Copeland each scored one goal for Milan.

“Bailey is a freshman. She scored twice today, and I think she’ll score a lot of goals in her career here; she’s got four years to play,” said Evans
Even with the strong performance, Coach Evans sees room for improvement. Up 3-0 at the half, he was not happy with how his team was moving the ball between themselves. During the break he had the team huddle around as he pointed out a few areas to improve in the second half.

“In the first half, we weren’t connecting our passes. We talked at halftime play simple, keep possession and play the simple ball. They executed in the second half and played well,” said Evans.
The team plays next on April 11 at home against Flat Rock.
