Milan Senior Jevon Freeman Signs with Siena Heights
Linebacker's strong season, speed caught the eyes of coaches.
Jevon Freeman, senior outside linebacker for the Milan Big Reds, signed with the Siena Heights University Saints Wednesday afternoon.
Freeman finished last season with 84 tackles, which included five for a loss, five quarterback sacks and two fumble recoveries.
“[Jevon] was first team all-Huron League, he plays with a tremendous amount of energy. He’s a very physical player and he’s fast. He kind of jumps out at you on film. Siena Heights coaches noticed that right away and began the recruiting process. I think it’s a great fit for both,” said Milan football head coach Steve Robb.

Freeman sees himself staying at outside linebacker or strong safety for the Saints. He will also run track for Siena Heights.
“[I’m looking forward to] the whole college experience: the new coaches, new players, the whole new world,” said Freeman. “I’m just feeling really good right now.”

At 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds, Freeman might be a little undersized for the linebacker position, but Siena Heights recruiting and offensive coordinator Jeff Hancock is not worried.
“[Jevon’s] fast. He’s a good athlete and can play a in a couple different spots. We’ll see if he can defend a deep half and if so, he might be a bit more of a safety, if he’s more of a run-stopper he will be more of an outside linebacker.”
Freeman said he was also scouted by Albion, Defiance and Trine.
