No Bull Towing Raises the Bar For the Wrecking Industry

Owner Chris Gula keeps high standards for his towing company in Saline.

It's hard to miss No Bull Towing. It's the building at 101 Bennett St. in Saline, that always has four giant trucks, each featuring a bull horn at its helm.

Chris Gula and No Bull Towing have been at the Bennett Street location since 2005. His motto is simple. No Bull Towing will recover any vehicle from anywhere.

“We are an all-terrain and underwater recovery operation,” Gula said.

No Bull assists drivers recover vehicles from the side of the highway, the bottom of a lake, or out in the middle of a snowy farm field.  The tougher the job, the better.

“We like the jobs that other people don’t like,” Gula said.

No Bull Towing is equipped for any situation and even boast four-door trucks to accommodate stranded families.
“I don’t like leaving anyone on the side of the road.”

No Bull Towing has a crew of three part-time workers who are responsible for two tow trucks, two flatbed trucks, one dive boat and two all terrain snow groomers.

“The snow groomers have tracks on them, not unlik tank, and they all have horns,” Gula said.

The horns on the vehicles have become a company signature.

“The first set of horns were from a friend of mine and had sentimental value, and I’ve just been adding them on since then,” Gula said.

Gula has a background in criminal justice and studied at Dixie State College in Utah and Eastern Michigan University.

Education and a serious skill set are required of Gula's staff.

“We all bring something different,” he said. “We’ve got first responder experience, diving experience, and are all certified and trained through Wreckmaster in Detroit, among others.”

Tow truck drivers often get a bad rap, according to Gula, and his mission is to change that perception. He wants people to know that he runs a top-notch, state-of-the-art, professional operation.

In the off season, Gula is a dive guide on the island of San Salvador in the Bahamas.  No Bull Towing also is working to help an archaeological project on Lake Huron for the University of Michigan.
