Obama to Campaign for Peters, Schauer in Metro Detroit

U.S. Senate-nominee Gary Peters has an 11-point lead, according to recent poll, but Mark Schauer is trailing Gov. Rick Snyder by 8 points.

President Barack Obama is coming to the Detroit metro on Nov. 1, three days before the general election, to campaign for Democrats in key races.

The White House and the Michigan Democratic Party didn’t say in the announcement where the campaign event for U.S. Senate nominee Gary Peters and gubernatorial nominee Mark Schauer will take place, the Detroit Free Press reports.

The president is the latest of several high-profile political figures to visit Michigan. First Lady Michelle Obama visited earlier this month, and former President Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton have also stumped for candidates.
