October In Saline: Fall Fun, Festivals & More

Fall is officially here in Saline, and there’s no shortage of ways to make the most of it. From festivals and farmers markets to pumpkin patches, live music and other seasonal fun, October brings plenty of reasons to get out and enjoy what’s happening close to home.

Here are some events and activities happening in and around Saline this October.

Pumpkin Plunge

When: Friday, Oct. 9, 6–8 p.m.
Where: Saline Recreation Center, 1866 Woodland Drive, Saline, MI

Make a splash at the Pumpkin Plunge, where kids can wade through a floating pumpkin patch and choose a pumpkin to take home. Families can also decorate pumpkins, make festive crafts and enjoy cider and donuts, with each child receiving a goody bag. Registration is required for everyone attending; children who cannot swim independently must be accompanied in the water by a paid adult.

Boo Bash

When: Friday, Oct. 23, 6–8 p.m.
Where: Saline Recreation Center, 1866 Woodland Drive, Saline, MI

Dress up for Saline Parks and Recreation's Boo Bash, a family Halloween party featuring a pizza dinner, DJ and dancing, games, crafts and candy. Kids can also join a pumpkin hunt before the evening wraps up with a balloon drop. Admission is $15 per person, with children age 1 and younger free with a paying adult; advance registration is required, and walk-ins are not accepted.

Autumn Days At The Farm

When: Every weekend throughout October; farm hours: Monday–Saturday 10 a.m.–4 p.m., Sunday 12 p.m.–6 p.m.
Where: The Petting Farm at Domino's Farms, 3001 Earhart Road, Ann Arbor, MI

A short drive from Saline, Autumn Days at the Farm brings seasonal activities to The Petting Farm every weekend in October. Visitors can enjoy hayrides, fall crafts, pumpkin decorating, cider and donuts, pumpkins for sale and the farm's animals and attractions, with special activities changing each weekend. Autumn Days activities are included with regular farm admission unless otherwise noted.

Blast Corn Maze At Nixon Farms

When: Fridays through Sundays through Nov. 1; Fridays, 5–9 p.m.; Saturdays, 11 a.m.–9 p.m.; Sundays, 11 a.m.–7 p.m.
Where: Nixon Farms, 6175 Daly Road, Dexter, MI

Get lost in 14 acres of fall fun at the Blast Corn Maze at Nixon Farms, just a short drive out from Saline. General admission includes the corn maze, hayride, cow train, pedal cart races, straw maze, pumpkin patch, farm animals, corn box and other activities, with shorter maze routes available for younger visitors. October also brings special events, including Glow Maze nights on Fridays, Oct. 9, 16 and 23, when visitors can navigate the maze after dark with glow sticks; general admission is $16 for adults and $13 for children ages 5–12.

Saline Farmers Market

When: Saturdays through Nov. 8, 8 a.m.–12 p.m.
Where: Parking Lot No. 4, 100 S. Ann Arbor St., Saline, MI

Shop locally throughout October at the Saline Farmers Market, held every Saturday morning at its outdoor downtown location. The city-run market brings together local vendors offering fresh and seasonal foods and other locally produced goods. The outdoor season continues through Nov. 8 before the market moves indoors to Liberty School beginning Nov. 15.
