Parks Commission Continues Work with Green Thumb Award

The Park Commission is working hard to cover all of the nominations for the Green Thumb Award that they have received. They have received 55 nominations for the award from Saline residents, more than they received last year for the award. The commission is short on signs for the project, so they will be reassigning signs that have been displayed for over two weeks in their current location. The whole commission will be working hard to get all the pictures needed by the July 31 deadline.
Owl Call Program Ready and Accepting Reservations

The Owl Calling Night’s arraignments are all completed. The program, occurring in Curtiss Park on August 27, will feature a naturalist giving a short presentation and attempting to call owls for the group to observe. There is a limit to the number of people able to attend the event, and spots are believed to fill up fast. There will be a $5 fee for adults, and a $3 fee for children. Commission Raises Justine Madonna to Vice Chair and Welcome New Member
Commission member Justine Madonna was voted unanimously for the Vice Chair position on the Parks Commission. The commission also welcomed new member Marc Taylor to their ranks. Taylor was brought up to speed on some of the details of the position and asked to keep an eye on Curtiss Park for needed repairs.
Orienteering Program on Track and Full
The Orienteering Program, a program designed and headed by Eagle Scout Stephen Amori, is ready to go and booked full. The course will teach attendees how to utilize a compass and other nature-focused abilities. It will be held at Curtiss Park on August 20 on a course that Amori built.
