ANN ARBOR — The Saline Hornets baseball and softball games on May 23 were washed out by inclement weather. Both games had gotten under way, but were unable to continue through thunder and pouring rain. The games have yet to be rescheduled.
Saline’s baseball game was tied at one when the umpires called the team off the field. Ann Arbor Pioneer had struck first on a double off the left field fence off starter Doug Mitchell. The Hornets tied the game on a wild pitch as the rain started coming down.
The Lady Hornets had jumped out to an 11-1 lead before thunder pulled the teams off the field. Laura Vacarro hit home runs in her first two at-bats, and Kristina Zalewski allowed one run in the first inning, then bore down and shut down the Pioneer offense.
