Adults and kids ages 6 and up are invited to audition for Saline Area Players’ production of Honk! A musical tale of the “Ugly Duckling.” Auditions will be held Sunday, December 14 from 3-5:00 PM for children ages 6-13, and Monday, December 15 from 7-9:00 PM for high school students and adults, at Liberty School Auditorium, 7265 N Ann Arbor St in Saline. These will be “open” auditions, meaning all auditioning will be able to watch others try out. Those auditioning will be asked to fill out an audition form and conflict calendar, and will be given a number and have their picture taken before the session begins. Auditioners will be asked to do cold readings from the script. Each adult who auditions will be asked to sing 16 bars of a musical theater type song; please bring sheet music that has a beginning and end point clearly marked for the accompanist. Kids may also prepare a musical theatre song, or may sing “happy birthday” if they prefer.

Honk! is an award-winning musical based on Hans Christian Anderson’s “The Ugly Duckling,” packed with wit and good family fun. Artistic director is Elizabeth Champion and musical director is Robert Cindric. Full audition information, including audition forms and character descriptions, is available at the website www.salineareaplayers.org. Additional questions about auditions should be sent to the director at honk@salineareaplayers.org.
