“After losing a really close meet on Tuesday, the girls reacted very positively.  They did very well coming off a big, emotional loss. Amy Creutz won the mile with her best time of the season, and Randi Bennett had an all-time best in discus and won the shot put.  It was a good meet,” said girls head coach Mike Smith.

The boys’ runners were led by Garrick Roemer’s 300m hurdles win (0:40.1) and Payton Hardy’s pair of seconds in the 400m (0:51.4) and 200m dash (0:23.1).  Matthew Elms took second in the 800m (2:00.6) and Roel Galinato earned silver in the 100m dash (0:11.4).  Steven Bastien took second in the 100m hurdles (0:16.3). Andrew Barnett’s second in the 1600m (4:30.4) and Nicholas Renberg’s second in the 3200m (9:44.1) were hard run races. The relay teams performed well, with the 4x100 (0:46.1), 4x200 (1:31.7) and 4x400 (3:37.3) all winning their races.  The 4x800 relay placed in second (8:12.7).

The guys’ field team performed well.  They swept the pole vault, with Bastien taking first (13’6”); Tyler Villa won the shot put (46’3.5”) and discus (116’11”).  Bastien also won the long jump (20’3”) while Garrick Roemer took third in the high jump (6’).

“It was a nice win from a team perspective. The whole team did an outstanding job looking for the little points.  Someone like Mitch Osadchuk took a third place in the 400; Chris Simon was third in the 300 [hurdles].  Terrell McGee taking third in the 800 was big because he split two kids that were all-state type runners.  In the overall scheme of things, those one points can change the meet,” said boys head coach Allan Leslie.

Saline hosts the Golden Triangle meet Friday, May 6.
