Season Preview: Milan Boys' Golf Team Sees Improvement Everywhere
Head Coach Claire Neff sees a strong seven or eight players on her roster with even more coming.
The Milan Big Reds boys' golf team is looking to improve on a rough 2010 season. They finished sub-.500 after graduating five seniors and had trouble finding their replacement.
“Last year, we didn’t do so well, we did not have a winning record. We had lost five seniors, and that had a big impact. We have an extremely skilled group of kids that just moved into the district and it will have a big impact. I can tell that three of my boys have improved over the summer as well; it’s nice to see them at practice now because their swing looks good, I can tell they’ve been working,” said head coach Claire Neff.
Leading the charge for Milan will be seniors Corey Scott, Nick Scully and Spencer Hayes as well as returning sophomore Lester Lancaster. Coach Neff sees good things this season for her team.

“Corey Scott and Nick Scully will be our captains this year. (Corey’s) game has greatly improved and he will be one of our leaders,” said Neff. “We will make it out of Districts, that’s my forecast. With some good luck, we will qualify as a team to go to States.”
If her forecast comes true, then Milan’s golf team will be vastly improved over last season. Her team starts the season off at the Ida Stableford Challenge on April 13.
