About That White Christmas You're Dreaming Of in Metro Detroit ...
You may be rewarded, if only briefly. The Detroit metro could get an inch or so of snow, but its expected to melt quickly.

It you’re among the 50 percent of Michiganders who want a one-inch dusting that won’t snarl their travel plans, dreams may come true. If you’re like the other half, who want a winter wonderland, keep dreaming.
Mark Torregrossa, chief meteorologist for farmersweather.com, told WWJ/CBS Detroit a small amount of snow is possible Christmas morning, “what I would call decorative snow showers.”
Snap the family picture on snow-covered grassy areas quickly, because temperatures of 35 to 36 by late morning mean the snow will be as elusive as Santa himself.

Torregrossa, who also writes a weather blog for MLive, says the snow that does fall in heavier amounts is expected to be isolated to the northwest Lower Peninsula and the eastern U.P. – and because the ground temperatures aren’t likely to drop below freezing, it’ll be a perfect Christmas snow, he said.
Road conditions shouldn’t deteriorate because any snow that does accumulate Christmas Eve night into Christmas Day morning should melt quickly.

Wind gusts up to 40 mph late Christmas Eve through noon on Christmas are expected, but the wet snow won’t blow around much, Torregrossa said.
If you’re planning to drive into Lower Michigan overnight on Christmas Eve, heavier bursts of big, flaky wet snow could create some hazardous driving conditions, he said.
