Art is always in season for Utica Community Schools students

Oakbrook Elementary is harvesting their student's artistic talents.

To express the learners' feelings of the season, and to activate / expand our knowledge of the media, while emphasizing form versus shape, highlight and shadow, learners were provided a still life to inspire them in creating their art.

Oakbrook Elementary learners are already pretty excited about the upcoming spooky holiday, but they are equally excited about all our harvest season has to offer. Tapping into this excitement enables learners to create their best art.

Creating their soft pastel painting of the still life put our learners in the same ranks as some of the world's most famous artists. Namely, Paul Cezanne, once said: an artist can create the most difficult thing if the artist breaks it down into simple shapes.

Our students created their still life artworks with soft pastel and overlapping simple shape. This along with their previous knowledge of the six areas of light and shadow enabled their art to look three dimensional relatively quickly.

We are very proud of what we create here at Oakbrook Elementary. We hope you enjoy it too!
