Beacon Tree students share their bright future for UCS Board of Education

Students and staff shared how their school is creating a bright future at a special UCS Board of Education curriculum night.

Beacon Tree Elementary students and staff shared how their school is creating a bright future at a special UCS Board of Education curriculum night.

The Beacon Tree community set up classroom stations for Board members and the community to demonstrate the innovative ways the school and UCS are promoting achievement.

“Tonight we celebrate what is special about Beacon Tree Elementary,” said principal Jason Ellis. “We pride ourselves on molding our students to be prepared for a fast paced and ever-changing future by providing the skills necessary for success.”

Called “Creating the Future One Star at a Time” the curriculum night demonstrated how a strong educational experience will assist all students in developing the necessary skills to achieve at a high level, engage in a post-secondary experience and prepare for a fulfilling career.

  • How learning code is sparking creativity, inspiration and innovation;
  • How the future is being shaped toward “clean energy” through research and experiments; and
  • How mapping is instilling student knowledge of communities and how they can be used to compare northern Macomb County from the past to the present and into the future.

Board members shared their appreciation with the school for demonstrating the learning that is occurring every day in district classrooms.

“It is very clear that students are working at a very high level,” said Board of Education President Dr. Carol Klenow.
