A new "Buddy Bench" at Flickinger Elementary is helping to build positive relations.
The new bench is an outgrowth of the Flickinger Elementary Peer Pal program, which builds friendships between general and special education students.
By participating in this program, both general and special education students have discovered that everyone has strengths and weaknesses and nobody likes to feel lonely.
In the spirit of reaching out to help others, Flickinger special education teaching staff are dedicating a recess buddy bench in honor of all of our this year's Flickinger Peer Pals.
This buddy bench is a place where any student at Flickinger can go at recess and sit if they are in need of someone to play with. If a peer is spotted sitting on the bench, students at Flickinger will be encouraged to reach out and invite that person to play.
