Eisenhower athletic standout named finalist for Governor's Fitness Award
Scrivano is one of five team members on the 2015 U.S. Junior National Para Table Tennis team

An Eisenhower High School athlete and national table tennis champion has earned a prestigious fitness honor from the State of Michigan.
Danny Scrivano, who is paralyzed on the right side of his body, was named as a finalist in the 2015 Governor’s Fitness Award.
A standout athlete at Eisenhower High School, Scrivano was named a finalist in the Accepting the Challenge Category.

Since the age of five, Danny has participated in T-ball, soccer, football, bowling, basketball, tennis, and table tennis despite his disability.
“Don’t underestimate me because you never know what I can bring to the table,” he said.

After undergoing surgery at an early age for lung cysts, Scrivano had a stroke leaving him paralyzed on his right side. He has since exceled in every sport he has particpated in, particularly table tennis and tennis.
Scrivano is one of five team members on the 2015 U.S. Junior National Para Table Tennis Team.
His team has competed in the Romanian Para Open, Spanish Para Open and Copa Costa Rica Para Open, the US Open and several others in 2014. He has created a Facebook page to update his goal to join this year’s paralympics.
He is also a key member of the Eisenhower tennis team, leading his team to the state finals all three years he has been starting at the varsity level. He was named to the Macomb County Dream Team this year.
Scrivano was honored at the Governor’s Fitness Gala and awards dinner on Thursday. Top honorees in each division will be honored at that time. He was also be honored during the legislative session at the Capitol in Lansing.
