Eisenhower High School students dive into cool charity event

Students braved freezing water to raise $2,725 for Special Olympics

Ten students from the Eisenhower High School Project Unify club jumped into the freezing cold waters of the Pine River to raise $2,725 for Special Olympics Michigan. Project Unify is committed to building and fostering friendships among students.

Of the February 22 Polar Plunge charity event for Special Olympics, student Ashley Berry said, “I was really scared to jump into the water, but I did it anyways because I knew it was for a very good cause. I would definitely do it again.”

Added student Sophia Hall, “It’s a lot worse than it looks.”

Other Eisenhower students taking the plunge were Eleni Katakis, Madison Tenhopen, Sophia Hall, Sara Polanco, Logan Fredal, Drew Sabina, Max Schafer and Joe Schafer.

Nearly 20,000 athletes participate in programs sponsored by Special Olympics Michigan.
