Elementary students picture perfect fall season

Projects celebrate the season

Oakbrook Elementary students are in the thick of their celebration of fall.

The second through fourth grade art students have been using an autumn theme to learn how to make objects appear thick through highlights and shadow.

“This time of year many of our students are going to the cider mill, the farm, and the apple orchard,” saaid art teacher Jeffrey Titran. “To celebrate this, and the harvest season, students from Oakbrook Elementary’s second, third, and fourth grade have been fooling the viewers’ eye with shadow.”

The students are working to make their themes appear two- and three- dimensional through their use of shadows. Students began last year with learning about angle lines, and are now adding more shading techniques.

Students have been using oil pastel tools to create their work.
