Farrington: Salary database puts public information in people’s hands

Government transparency should be a priority

State Rep. Diana Farrington today praised the decision to make the salaries of state representatives and their staff members public on the House of Representatives website, saying it is another step toward making government accountable to people.

Farrington, of Utica, said posting the salary information is just one example of how the Legislature has made transparency a priority.

“The simple truth is that you deserve information on how your tax dollars are spent, and this is yet one more example of how state government is working hard to make this information easily available,” Farrington said. “You should know how we are using the money you entrust to us.”
