Flickinger third graders were able to apply their economic knowledge through a third grade Entrepreneur Day.
After learning about economic vocabulary and creating a Michigan products' board on Discovery Education, students were invited to buy a business license using third grade classroom mini money and work with other entrepreneurs to create a product or service to market to their classmates.
Students participate daily in a classroom mini-society but this year teachers wanted to add a culminating project to the economy unit that allowed students to direct their own learning.
"My company created rainbow bracelets. I saw that attracting customers was a challenge but I enjoyed having tips and making a profit, " stated third grader Aaron Scott.
"We made our origami products at home and made $23 profit," included Hadley Briske.
"My buy one get one free bird seed was a good incentive, " added Christian Dib.
Flickinger third graders are truly invested in learning.
