Flickinger Elementary students recently showed the distance they will go to travel to pursue their love of books.
Third-grade students took part in a long distance video conference with the author Jane Panagopoulos about her book on the Michigan fur trade, Traders In Time.
"I liked learning about Michigan Native Americans by reading historical fiction. I really liked how a boy traveled through his dream back in time," said third grader Thaddeus Kustarz.
Students were given the opportunity to ask the author questions about her work.
"I asked the author which character she was most like in the book and she said Meggie. She was funny and I liked her stories," commented Lily Windorf.
Integrating reading, writing, social studies, and technology has created meaningful learning experiences for Flickinger students. Traveling through time in Michigan studies has taken on a whole new dimension.
Flickinger third grade teaches are Darcy Mackenzie, Jody Kish and Heather Thompson.
