Ford II students spell out their commitment to end bullying

More than 200 students gathered in the gym to spell "STOP" next to a sign that read bullying.

Henry Ford II students have spelled out their commitment to end bullying as part of a week-long focus on building positive relationships.

Members of the school’s DECA (Distribution Education Clubs of America) chapter gathered more than 200 students in the gym to spell “STOP” next to a sign that read bullying.

“Bullying is an ongoing issue in society. We are creating an Anti-Bully campaign to raise awareness and be proactive about bullying,” said DECA member Samantha Hirmiz. “We are hoping this campaign sparks a chain reaction for students to prevent bullying from occurring in general.”

The photo reminder was part of a week-long effort aimed at starting a chain reaction of anti-bullying efforts by the student body. Other activities included signing a school-wide pledge, Mix It Up Day at lunch and an anti-bullying video during lunch. The DECA advisor at Henry Ford II is marketing teacher Jennifer DeClerck.
