A student Key Club group wants to send an important message to veterans driving Dodge Park this weekend: you are loved and appreciated.
The Gene L. Klida Utica Academy for International Studies club put out nearly 100 signs of support to those who served outside their building, on Dodge Park, north of 16 Mile Road.
“Our club is working to better the community, and veterans are an important part of our community,” said senior Christian Fakhoury. “Our club wants to show appreciation with their signs. It is very important that they know they are loved.”
The 160-member student club puts the signs outs each veterans day, making new signs this year. This year, the signs traveled the length of their building and along 16 Mile Road.
“We hope that this encourages people to help support them and helps to build a community that supports its veterans,” said key club vice president, senior Lily Wilson.
