Global Seal of Language awarded to more than 170 Utica Community Schools graduates
Students recognized for proficiency in multiple languages

More than 170 Utica Community Schools graduates were honored this year for demonstrating proficiency in multiple languages.
For the second straight year, UCS graduates received a Seal of Global Language recognition for demonstrating a high level of proficiency in World Languages.
“This recognition is a gold standard that ensures UCS students are competitive in a global economy,” Superintendent Dr. Christine Johns said. “The seal also reflects the district’s appreciation and respect for the diversity of our students.”

This year, 174 UCS graduates earned the Seal of Global Language, an 18 percent increase over the number awarded its first year - 2016.
Global proficiency is defined as the ability to read, write, speak and listen in more than one language.
