Jeannette Junior High school welcomed Dennis Liegghio, from KnowResolve, to speak with the 7th and 8th grade students on a sensitive but important topic.

He was invited as part of the programming about suicide awareness and prevention.

Liegghio shared his personal story of losing his father to suicide, how it impacted his life and how he was able to use music to not only help himself but also reach others that struggle.

Along with stories, he performed songs and music he has written as part of his healing process and personal journey.

Jeannette students were able to ask questions and interact with Liegghio. He also spoke with them about the risk factors and warning signs for suicide.

His key message was “Break a Secret, Save a Life”. A message that reassures students that it’s ok to tell an adult if they or someone they know is in crisis. He discussed healthy coping skills and made available resources for anyone who is struggling with a personal crisis.

KnowResolve is an organization dedicated to promoting mental health and preventing youth suicides through outreach, advocacy and education.
