Manufacturing Day builds interest in careers
UCS participates in national effort to promote manufacturing careers
Utica Community Schools paired up with local business partners Friday to help build career interest through Manufacturing Day.
Part of a national initiative, more than 300 UCS high school students learned about possible career paths to promote interest in skilled manufacturing jobs.
Students from each UCS high school received first-hand exposure to viable Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) careers in all areas related to manufacturing, including skilled trades, human resources, marketing/sales, and engineering.

Information about manufacturing shared with students included:
- Manufacturing supports more than 17.6 million jobs in the United States.
- Manufacturing comprises 12% of the United Statesق│└ GDP.
- The average salary of manufacturing workers is more than $77,000
Career and Technical Education students in UCS visited the following businesses: MNP Corporation, JB Cutting, Wolverine Harley Davidson, Models and Tools, The Paslin Company, Schwab Industries, Ford Transmission, MAG Automotive and the GM Tech Center.
