Mother Charged After Husband, Sons Attack Shelby Twp. Police Officers
Two officers were taken to a nearby hospital where they were treated for a concussion and lacerations to the face, police said.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MI — A woman was arrested after her husband and two teenage sons attacked a police officer and sergeant last week during an investigation outside a Shelby Township home.
Manal Kassab, 46, was charged with assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer (two-year felony). She was placed in jail with a $50,000 bond. Her next court date was scheduled for Wednesday.
"We will never tolerate any violent or assaultive behavior towards those who protect and serve our communities," Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido said. "Our commitment to preserving the safety and well-being of law enforcement officers remains unwavering. It is crucial that we address such incidents with the utmost seriousness."

Officers were investigating a Cadillac Escalade at a home on Sept. 9 in the 51000 block of Clear Spring Lane near 23 Mile and Ryan Road at 10:45 p.m. Saturday after receiving reports of four people shooting a gun at people from inside the SUV, police said.
A witness gave officers the license plate number of the Cadillac Escalade and officers matched the license plate number to the suspected SUV, police said.

When officers began towing the suspected SUV, Kassab, told his two teenage boys to block the tow truck and prevent it from leaving, police said.
Kassab then started pushing officers and started fighting with a sergeant and officer who were trying to place him under arrest, police said.
While the officers were trying to arrest Kassab, the 15-year-old started attacking the sergeant and officer, police said.
Police said the 16-year-old boy and Manal also assaulted the officers, police said.
Additional officers arrived at the home and eventually arrested Kassab and his two teenage boys in connection to the attack, police said.
Sam Kassab, 55, assault/resist police officer causing serious impairment, assault/resist police officer causing injury and assault/resist police officer. He was released from jail posting $100,000 bond, police said.
If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison for the assault causing serious impairment charge, four years for the assault causing injury charge and up to two years for assaulting a police officer.
Kassab's 15-year-old son was charged with assaulting a police officer causing serious impairment, assaulting a police officer causing injury and assault and refusing to provide DNA samples. He was charged in juvenile court and given a $500 bond.
His 16-year-old brother was charged with three counts of assaulting a police officer and was also given a $500 bond.
A 55-year-old Troy man was also arrested in connection to the attack and was charged with disorderly conduct, which is a misdemeanor.
