This stand is about as small as they come, but don’t let that fool you. Stationed at the edge of a driveway, this stand was started eight years ago by the stand’s 82-year-old owner, Albert Corio. With all produce grown in his backyard, Corio has gathered a very strong local clientele that can’t get enough of his more than five varieties of tomatoes. Not only is this his job, but it’s a hobby and a passion. So stop by to get a taste of the love that goes into every veggie.

M & R Produce

Location: Corner of Dequindre Road and Avon Road

Hours: Open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily

Although just two years old, this stand has quickly been turning people into regulars coming back for their fruits and veggies. With all of their produce grown locally in Armada and Romeo and picked daily, their food is as fresh as it comes. Farmer and salesperson Doyle Maynor even says their corn is so fresh and so sweet he encourages people to snack on it raw. So if you are looking to try something new and munch on something while perusing, then this is the place for you!

Goike’s Family Farm

Location: On 26 Mile Road just west of Schoenherr Road

Open Until: Through November

Hours: Open from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. daily

Having been open for 45 years, Goike’s must be doing something right. Their customers agree as they have a lot of regulars and many new patrons that visit from word-of-mouth. And what is everyone talking about? It must be all the produce that is locally grown, some even right on site, and picked daily. So if you want a little taste of history and the freshness that keeps the farm going, then make sure to stop by Goike’s.

Maeder’s Greenhouse

Location: On 23 Mile Road just east of Shelby Road

Open Until: Into October

Hours: Open 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday

Most Popular Item(s): Sweet Corn

While a greenhouse selling plants and flowers during most of the year, this stand has been bringing in fresh fruits and veggies during the summer and fall for over 20 years. Maeder’s makes sure that their produce is fresh by growing it locally in Romeo and picking it daily. And to guarantee that you are going to enjoy your purchase, the stand often offers samples of some of their fresh cut up fruit. So head on over to Maeder’s if you want a refreshing snack that hits the spot.

Three times a charm, as this owner has three stands throughout the neighboring communities. And lucky for you, one of them is right here close to home. Farm Boy Produce started this local stand four years ago and has been gaining customers ever since with many regulars that come every day. They come for the local produce that is picked daily. But the stand doesn’t want you to miss out, so they even have plums brought in. So make sure to stop on by, your taste buds will thank you later!  

Mary’s Garden

Location: On 26 Mile Road just east of Jewell Road

Open Until: Into October

Hours: Open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

This Mom-and-Pop stand was started 12 years ago by a family that has been in the farming business for more than 80 years. This stand has experience on their side, and people from the close-by neighborhoods are taking advantage. According to stand retailer Mary Rudich, many customers make a daily trip to get their produce for the day. In addition to produce, Rudich also sells several different salsas and jars of honey, making this the perfect one-stop-shop for something healthy and a little something sweet.
