Piera's Bridal Couture

Shelby-Utica fashion boutiques offer great new styles and accessories every week. Check back every Friday for the latest in tops, bottoms, bags, accessories and more.

This week, Shelby-Utica Patch's Fashion Friday visited the year-old Piera's Bridal Couture on Hayes Road.

The open, bright dress store is owned by Piera Sbrocca, a more than two decade veteran of the bridal fashion world. Sbrocca ran another bridal boutique for 22 years before retiring. It took a year for her to realize she needed to get back to doing what she loves.

Sbrocca had an interest in wedding fashion because her brother-in-law was in the tuxedo business. She had decided that she wanted to be her own boss, and bridal gowns seemed like the perfect compliment to her brother-in-law's tuxedo business.

Sbrocca chose the location in Shelby because of the large windows. The store is filled with natural light, which illuminates the already stunning gowns.

Piera's is truly a family business. Sbrocca's daughter, Nella DiMercurio often helps her mother at the store. She worked with Sbrocca when she had her previous boutique. Sbrocca's daughter-in-laws Jill and Marina, also help out. Sbrocca said, "They [my family] are always here when I need them."

Piera's Bridal Couture specializes in wedding gowns, and special occasion dresses such as mother-of-the-bride, communion, prom and bridesmaids dresses. "We have everything a bride and her family would need," said DiMercurio.

Piera's carries designers like Tony Bowls, Sherri Hill, Jovani, Justin Alexander, Enzoani, Jade and Maci, as well as accessories and shoes.

The store also offers custom design and alterations, even on items purchased elsewhere.

Sbrocca and DiMercurio often donate prom dresses to high schools where girls can not afford to purchase their own dress. They also have plans to donate many beautiful bridal gowns to the Salvation Army.

Be sure to visit their website for more information about this great boutique.
