Principal loses his lid over students meeting their goals

Switzer principal keeps his promise to shave his head

Switzer Principal Jacob Palmer told students he would lose his top if students met the school's goal for its annual Fun Run.

Literally.

To honor his commitment, Palmer went under the razor on Monday to have his head shaved after students raised $32,000 to support their school through the annual event.

"It is a little weird, but it is fun," said Switzer fifth grader Jada Pantaleo. "It definitely motivated us."

Sponsored by the school's PTO, the annual Fun Run supports programs that directly support Switzer students.

The goal for the October 14 event was $25,000 - which the students exceed by $7,000.

Programs being supported by the Fun Run this year include assemblies, classroom enrichment activities and teacher grants, extra curricular activities such as Lego Robotics and Destination Imagination, library books and field trips.
