Red Wings Foundation scores big at Flickinger

Assembly promotes active, healthy lifestyles

Flickinger Elementary students scored big at recent healthy living assemblies presented by the Detroit Red Wings Foundation in partnership with BlueCross/Blue Shield of Michigan.

The program aims to introduce youngsters to the game of hockey while encouraging healthy habits and active lifestyles. Prizes were awarded for correct answers to hockey and health-related questions.

As part of the visit, the schools each received floor hockey equipment including goalie gear and nets courtesy of the Red Wings Foundation. The items were given a workout during an exciting shootout between some of the teachers and students.

Wings Foundation representatives gave the students a rousing pep talk that including telling them that education, dedication and life-long learning are the keys to success stressed by Wings players.
