Roberts Elementary principal takes learning to new heights
A promise is a promise: Principal John Hurley sets example for students in honoring commitments as he braved temperatures in the mid-20s

When Roberts Elementary principal John Hurley learned about the success of the school’s recent Fun Run, he hit the roof - literally.
Hurley spent November 14 on the school’s roof after students topped their Fun Run goal by raising more than $12,000.
He braved temperatures in the mid-20s to honor his commitment.

“We teach our students the importance of following through on their commitments and I promised them I would set up my office on the roof if they met our goal,” Hurley said.
Having their principal on the roof was a fun way to experience the school day, according to Roberts students.
